What About the Next Generation Bmw 5 Series?

Tuesday, January 26th, 2010

To be launched in 2010, the next generation BMW 5 Series comes with an entirely new platform as well as a new exterior designs. Generally speaking, the design is entirely different from the E60 5 Series. The only resemblance is the “flame surfacing”, as how BMW calls it. This is composed of concave and convex shapes.

These insights were according to Radovan Varicak, a BMW insider.

A car that is already on the pedestal, the sixth generation BMW 5 Series will have an excellent, particularly luxurious design which will be initiated by Adrian van Hooydonk, BMW’s design manager.

In order to comply with stronger pedestrian protection laws and policies, the front-end will somewhat featue a more upright kidney grille. With unstretched head lights, the BMW 5 Series’ “flame surfacing” will be clearly depicted in the engine hood’s lines. Now, the rear roofline and C-pillar transcends more fluidly to the trunk lid. For a more impressive width, the parts of the tail-lights continue onto the trunk lid.

With an all new Chasis, the sixth generation 5-series has feature similar to double wishbones in the front, like on the new X5. The BMW chasis engineeers said this is to yield better control and road grip around corners. The adaptive shock absorbers is arranged to become more efficient and for the sake of active steering. This is done with the help of the trmendously fast Flex-Ray automotive network communications protocol. The Bavarian auto manufacturer will also be updating its iDrive system with an addition of another couple of programmable buttons.

The sedan is sporty enough. In fact it will come with a V10 motor. That is more power than the 507hp offered in today’s edition.

The BMW insider said the auto maker is not closing its doors to the possibility of putting a similar technology as the full-hybrid system with an electric motor while the making of the model is not yet done.

With all these features, BMW fans will certainly be more excited for the launch of this new vahicle.

BMW, maker of quality BMW air filter, is the abbreviation for Bayerische Motoren Werke. It is translated in English as Bavarian Motor Works. It is an independent German company and at the same time manufacturer of motorcycles and automobiles. It is from where MINI and Rolls-Royce came from.

With the company slogan “The Ultimate Driving Machine”, BMW is committed to be such through its inventions and innovations.

Bmw Serious About Getting Green

Sunday, January 24th, 2010

Linde’s CEO Wolfgang Reitzle has stressed that he will be driving hydrogen-powered BMW Hydrogen 7 from now on.

The objective is very clear for Professor Dr. Reitzle. He said, “Hydrogen-powered cars should become an everyday sight on our streets.”

The Chairman of the Executive Board of Linde AG has started practicing what he preaches by collecting a BMW Hydrogen 7 at the Linde Hydrogen Center. Professor Dr. Reitzle is to get a brand new model of what is considered to be the first top-end saloon in the world with a bivalent hydrogen-powered combustion engine. The new car will be handed over by Professor Dr. Joachim Millberg, Chairman of the Supervisory Board of BMW Group.

Professor Dr. Reitzle also added, “BMW and Linde are working closely together to achieve sustainable mobility using hydrogen as a fuel. With the BMW Hydrogen 7, BMW has taken a very important step towards mass production. For me, this vehicle is much more than just a new company car. The BMW Hydrogen 7 proves that hydrogen technology is suitable for everyday use.”

The new car will be re-fuelled with climate-neutral hydrogen at the Linde Hydrogen Center in Unterschleißheim which presently supplies BMW’s own test vehicles.

Professor Dr. Millberg said, “We need network partners from the fields of politics, the sciences and economics, so that we can continue to develop and expand appropriate infrastructures and technologies to support the use of hydrogen as a fuel. Linde and BMW are united by a common vision of achieving sustainable production and supply of hydrogen.”

For so long, Linde has been at the cutting edge when it comes to the development of environmentally-friendly hydrogen technology. The company also provides a complete range of technologies necessary for the functioning of a hydrogen value chain and that involves production to re-fuelling.

Linde is also involved in other initiatives which aim to demonstrate the suitability of hydrogen as an everyday fuel. It is also BMW’s exclusive gas partner for its CleanEnergy Project. The company has also taken a leading role as a supplier of mobile re-fuelling systems.

BMW the producer of top-of-the-line BMW 323is parts and Linde are ensuring Germany’s position as the center of innovation reinforcing it with the creation of an infrastructure of hydrogen filling stations. Earlier this year, the Linde Hydrogen Center in Unterschleißheim was voted as one of the “365 Landmarks” by the federal initiative “Germany-Land of Ideas”.

The German automaker has already produced a series of 100 models of its Hydrogen 7 which is the first top-end saloon in the world to be equipped with a hydrogen-powered combustion engine with bivalent drive. The Hydrogen 7 is a combination of hydrogen technology, good handling, high-performance, and of course luxurious comfort which BMW is known for. The range of Hydrogen 7 vehicles is to be presented in the course of 2007 to selected individuals in political and economic spheres and also to distinguish members of the society for use as an everyday mode of transport.

How to Stop Fantasizing About the Bmw M3 Sedan

How To Stop Fantasizing About The BMW M3Sedan

Yes, I know exactly how you feel. When I first saw the TV commercial for the BMW M3, I was totally blown away. My heart was really racing as the announcer says, “Eight thousand four hundred revolutions per minute. The first ever production V8 BMW M3”. That was the most exciting 32 seconds of automotive promotion that I’ve seen in a long time. No wonder there has been 194,234 views of that commercial on YouTube as of April 2008.

As you know, BMW owners are fanatics. And I mean that in a good way.

BMW M GmbH, the motorsports arm of the company, has created the 414 Horsepower V8 high performance production M3. You may not be aware of this, but the M3 sports sedan concept was introduced to the American market in 1988. And since that time it has been nothing but a mutual love affair. Truly it has become one of the greatest fantasies for BMW enthusiasts. Myself included.

See if you don’t agree that this fourth generation BMW M3 has one of the car industry’s most remarkable engines. Not only is it a V8, but it also has more power, less weight and more efficiency than the previous M3 engine that was only 6 cylinders. In addition, your little heart will jump for joy when you hear that this new production V8 gives you 15% increase in power and at the same time you get an 8% improvement in fuel economy. All I can say is WOW.

All these numbers just make my head confused. I only use them to impress my wife as an excuse for me wanting one of these powerful babies. The fact is, I could really care less about the technical “specs” of my fantasy BMW M3. All I want to know is———

How is it going to make me feel when I put the “petal to the metal”?

All of you guys and gals out there who share my fantasy for the BMW M3 understand that it’s all about the feeling. And as the old saying goes about people who do not own a BMW, “If I have to explain it to you, you just won’t understand”. But that’s OK. This only means more excitement for you and me.

Tell me the truth. You feel the same way, don’t you?

In closing let me share with you a few “little known” facts about why all BMWs are so inspiring. Each model is designed with the ability to be recycled at the end of their useful life. In fact, BMW has a separate plant just to “recycle” as much material as possible from cars no longer in service. This helps not only the environment but also the consumer by keeping the new car prices as low as possible.

And one last tid bit for you. Expect to see in the future the coming of hydrogen-powered models. It’s not a matter of “if”, but a matter of when.

So, go feed your fantasy. I promise I won’t tell anyone.

Check out the first ever production BMW M3 and feel the thrill.

It’s not True What They Say About Bmw

It’s Not True What they Say About BMW

If you’re like me, and you probably are, you’ve heard people say about their BMW some of the following misconceptions. Oh, I bought my BMW because it’s a great color. Or, I bought my BMW because the price was right. And this is a good one. I bought it mostly because of the advanced engineering.

Do you believe it?

Over the years I’ve heard many false reasons myself. But there is one “reason” that I have heard many times. And the first time I heard it was when my friend Bobby Watson took me for a spin in his brand new, right off the lot, gorgeous BMW 325i. He parked his “Silver Goddess” in front of my house, not in the driveway, to make sure that all the neighbors would see it.

It was at this time that those seven words came out of Bobby’s mouth that let me know he was lying. He told me what he, at the time, honestly thought was the truth. He said that he bought his “Ultimate Driving Machine” and these are his words, “Because of the great way it looks”. I knew right away that this lame excuse was pure rubbish.

It was just a matter of time before Bobby would come to realize “the truth”.

As I opened the passenger door to settle into my comfortable contoured seat, I was immediately struck by that sensation we all know well. That intoxicating aroma of the “New Car Smell” rushed passed my nostrils at lightning speed. In an instant, my brain told me that my childhood friend Bobby Watson had really made “the big time”. But more importantly, I realized that Bobby’s “excuse” for buying his new BMW 325i Silver Goddess as he called it, was just that—an excuse.

As Bobby started the almost silent engine of his new BMW 325i and pulled away from the curb, the look on his face gave me the first impression of the “true reason” for him buying this magnificent Silver Goddess. It was obvious to me as we approached the on-ramp to I95 in Fort Lauderdale, Florida that Bobby’s heart wasn’t just beating.

Bobby’s heart was exploding from the pure excitement of his BMW 325i experience.

The fact is, his BMW 325i didn’t merge with the rest of the traffic. It seemed to totally take command of the road as it assumed its rightful position of “dominance and control” over the rest of the pack. A role that it was made for. The role that it was born to play.

Within the first hundred yards on I95, even Bobby understood that it’s not true what they say about BMW. People don’t own a BMW because of its style, color, engineering or price. Although all these things are important to drivers. So, here it is. The truth about why Bobby and maybe even you, bought a BMW.

The real reason people own a BMW is————-

To feel the “Exhilarating Rush” of power, excitement and control at their fingertips that they command. And it doesn’t matter if you’re a guy or a gal, you know that you want that feeling of being seen, “lookin’ good” in one of the world’s best luxury cars.

The bottom line is this.

Don’t believe all those foolish words of self-deception about buying a BMW only because of its style, color, price or engineering. The truth is much more fascinating. You and I both know that BMW ownership is all about “The Feeling”.

It’s like a man saying that he buys Playboy magazine because he wants to “read the articles”.

What do you think?

Learn More About Bmw Parts and Accessories

Tuesday, January 12th, 2010

BMW parts are well known for its classiness. The style and reliability of these BMW parts makes them distinguishable from the rest. The BMW brand means revolutionary improvement and fascinating design Just keep reading on to see what makes the BMW parts special.

The more efficient fuel injector:

The horsepower and the emissions are both controlled by the fuel injector. Here the horse power should be made maximum while the emission is minimum. In order to achieve this condition, a good rapid burn of the fuel is required. This is where the BMW technology excels in. They made a small needle-like valve that forcefully under big pressure injects the fuel into the intake port. The fuel is atomized and like this together with the oxygen in the air it burns instantly and this gives the needed power for your BMW car. This BMW part is exceptional in delivering the maximum horsepower.

The amazing BMW ignition coil

The BMW ignition coil is one of the parts that have a very long life. BMW engines also work on the same principle as the conventional spark ignition engines. The only change is that this spark in your BMW car is produced by the spark plugs that need a high-voltage electrical charge and this will be provided to them by the ignition coil. These high voltage spark plugs are used to improve the starting performance (the engine can start in any whether conditions). The ignition coil is based on induction. It will take power from the accumulator which is 12 volts and then it will transform it to thousands of volts. This high voltage is an indispensability for maximum efficiency of the spark plug. This type of ignition coil will be found in no other cars and it’s the specialty of the BMW technology.

The BMW thermostat

The BMW car’s thermostat is another important and most significant one. This device is capable of both measuring and regulating the temperature in the car. In order to control the temperature the thermostat will constantly measure it and then it will cool down the system or heat it up by switching and controlling the flow of the heat energy. This mechanism will prevent the engine damage due to over heating.

The BMW oxygen sensor

The oxygen sensor is a BMW part that is fitted to monitor the exhaust of the vehicle. It is important to know how well the fuel has burned in the engine and this measuring device will provide you with that data. This data will be then examined by the fuel injection computer and it will make the necessary adjustments in order for the better burn of the fuel. These adjustments are all about the way in which the fuel combines with the air and more precisely. The better the fuel burns the higher is the performance of your BMW car.

All these BMW parts make the BMW cars the most efficient car in the planet.

Bmw and Nasa. What’s This About?

BMW and NASA. What’s This About?

The time was August 2007. The place is Cape Canaveral Florida.

An historic event took place on this date and time. The problem is that very few people realize that it even happened. And fewer people still understand the importance of this meeting of the minds between NASA engineers and the engineers at BMW.

But one day you will benefit from this union.

As NASA engineers were preparing to launch the Space Shuttle Endeavour, BMW of North America and NASA announced that together they had successfully completed an eight week test for the BMW Hydrogen 7 Luxury Sedan. And because this was the first hydrogen powered luxury sedan, their joint success brought a smile even to the faces of normally non-emotional engineers.

This was like getting s smile out of Mr. Spock on Star Trek. It was that important.

Both BMW and NASA are committed to hydrogen technologies research, innovative transportation systems and alternate energy sources. Fortunately, this program was made possible under a Space Act Agreement between NASA and BMW. I don’t know about you, but for me, I could feel the excitement of our tax dollars at work. Both you and I will someday benefit from this cutting edge research.

In simple terms, this is why BMW and NASA worked together. Because of the high density of liquid hydrogen the space shuttle is propelled at high speeds into space. This same concept is used by BMW to power the BMW Hydrogen 7. So BMW and NASA working together on this project was a perfect match. Also, this project is BMW’s way of showing that hydrogen drive vehicles are a viable option for your future and mine.

This test project was a huge success for BMW.

Not only did this prove that BMW could make a dual combustion engine that can switch from gasoline to liquid hydrogen seamlessly, but also as a far reaching model vehicle for the future. But the major drawback right now is that there are very few places where a driver can stop and fuel up on liquid hydrogen. But that isn’t going to stop BMW from pushing ahead with development of the Hydrogen 7.

So what’s the answer to all driver’s question, “Where do I get the liquid hydrogen?”

Another goal of this joint project was to make the public more aware of the great possibilities offered by a hydrogen driven car. And just as importantly, BMW is helping to stimulate the demand for a workable hydrogen infrastructure—that is—building hydrogen filling stations for your car and mine. This will one day make hydrogen for cars readily available and affordable.

For those of you looking just for the “specs” of the BMW Hydrogen 7, here is a little taste just to keep you going until you can get your hands on one at your local dealership. It’s being developed from the BMW 760Li , 260 horsepower V12 cylinder engine. Top speed for this baby is 143 mph as it quietly accelerates from 0 to 60 in 9.2 seconds.

One hundred of the Hydrogen 7 models have been build and are being tested in various markets around the world. In fact, the cars have already completed over 1.3 million miles during this testing phase.

Don’t expect to see Captain James T. Kirk from the Starship Enterprise driving one of these any time soon in your neighborhood. But, it sure would be a great promo for BMW and NASA.

Don’t you agree?

5 Things You Don’t Know About Bmw

5 Things You Don’t Know About BMW

Most people think that they know everything they need to know about BMW when they go to the dealership, read about BMW in Consumer Reports or Car & Driver magazine or go online and do some “research”. You can’t go wrong by doing any of those things.

But the truth is my friend, there is so much more to the BMW experience than just the usual brochures and information.

When you own a BMW you’re not just buying a luxury car. You’re buying a tradition of quality and excellence. And to show you what I mean, let me tell you about some “little known” insider information about BMW. This is going to be like a trip through your family tree. And just like you are the way you are because of all members of your family that came before you, the same is true of BMW.

Why should you care about any of this?

First, just like you, every BMW has its own special personality that started almost a century ago in 1913. Even then the obsessive need to create great mechanical machines was born. And like most true stories of “greatness”, BMW has its roots in failure. Karl Rapp started the company as an aircraft engine manufacturer. With a gleam in his eye and a dream in his heart, his watched as his aircraft engines struggled to overcome vibration problems.

But all would not end well for Karl.In about three years the dreams of Karl Rapp were dead.

The financial problems of the company were just like a bullet through his heart. And there was no way he could survive this massive trauma. So in 1916 he sells out to Franz -Josef Popp and Max Fritz. For the next four years the company does well with the aircraft engine business. But it was not enough.

As the old saying goes, the only thing that stays the same is “change”.

Secondly, BMW started building motorcycles in 1921. And the reason this is important to you dear reader is because this was another turning point for the company. During the next six years the company has great success with its R32 and R37 motorcycles. In fact from 1924 to 1929 all German championships in the 500 ccm category were won by BMW. Can the vehicle you drive today boast of such an inspiring heritage?

1928 was a very good year. This was the year in which all descendants of every BMW model in existence today began to take shape. For like all visionaries, the owners of the company knew they had to find other markets for their engines because the world economy was changing. And they needed to change with it.

Why is the factory at Eisenach/Thuringia important to you?

Because, and this is the third thing you don’t know about BMW, this was the first factory the company owned that was licensed to build small cars. It’s sort of like saying what hospital you were born in and on what date. Do you feel the connection?

The fourth thing you don’t know about BMW is that 1932 was the first year the company entirely developed the first model BMW called the AM4. With this car BMW wins the Concours d’Elegance in Baden-Baden. Not a bad start for a car that would become a legend—-right?

And finally, the fifth thing you don’t know about BMW is that in 1933 BMW introduced the 303 saloon. This was the first inline-six cylinder engine produced by the company. This configuration is still in use in many more recent models.

Now you can no longer say that there are, “5 Things You Don’t Know About BMW”.
