Im 19 looking to buy a car and im looking at the 1992-1998 generation of the bmw 3 series but there are so many i was just wondering the differences

I’m looking specifically for info on maintenance required for each. Does series 5 BMW’s require more maintenance than series 3?

Just wondering what the difference between the BMW series are, is it that a series 7 is better than a series 1, and what sort of difference are we talking about?
