BMW AIR INTAKE: INCREASE THE THROTTLE AND SOUND OF THE ENGINE

Thursday, January 21st, 2010

Nowadays, everyone is trying to modify the car comparatively better than others. For this purpose, everyone is searching for better products at a nominal price. An intake system is actually an air inlet for a car’s engine. An air intake is used to provide more air to the combustion chamber to produce more power and energy, which enables the engine to produce more thrust and to increase the efficiency.

An intake is a very common part of the car and it should be engineered perfectly and precisely for good results and better performance. Intake basically increases the velocity and pressure of the air in the combustion part of the engine. Through a good intake system, a car’s engine is able to produce more speed than its normal capability.

Nowadays, BMW has recognized several new air intakes for automobiles, through which they are earning revenue and fame. BMW has launched their modified air intake, which are quite efficient than the other intakes. Usually the modern air intake systems have three main parts:

1. An Air filter
2. Throttle Body
3. Mass Flow Sensor.

Freaks of modified and upgraded cars are buying BMW air intakes, because BMW air intakes have better performance and better results when compared to other manufacturers. These car lovers are also removing their silencers, because silencer reduces the air pressure which helps the silencer in reducing the noise.

BMW Company is using a very advance technology in their car air intake systems. They are using only one Throttle body per cylinder, while others are using two, four and even eight throttle bodies per cylinder. BMW is using these modern air intake systems in their E series cars. Usage of only one throttle body per cylinder increases the flow and also improves the throttle response.

There are many air intake systems available in the automobiles market and the buyers get confused while buying these intakes. BMW is offering the best intake systems with better performance at a very low price. Also, BMW air intake installation is very easy. Just remove the screws of the older air intake, remove it, fix your new one and feel new performance of the car. The aggressive sound and better acceleration will show you the difference of BMW intake.

There are also several types of air intakes in which cold air intakes are most popular and famous among the users. A cold air intake not only increases the car’s efficiency but it also increases the life of the engine by allowing the engine to run smooth at cooler temperature.

BMW intake systems are composed of a variety of materials such as fiberglass, Kevlar, rubber & composite material. The best BMW air intake is one which has an air box which is used to extend the engine power band. These BMW intake systems also have a very large inlet to take a sufficient amount of air in it and to provide engine a sufficient amount of oxygen in all conditions.

The BMW air intakes also have an isolated heat shield which is used to provide cooler air from outside to the engine bay. Fender wall also uses the car air intake to move the cooler air up though convection and it increases the power of engine without over heating it.

BMW has its own name in the field of automobiles. BMW provides you with the best products to enhance the car’s efficiency. So it is better to choose BMW air intakes, because BMW is a car champion.

BMW has recently been shopping for awards— imagine seven awards for four of its engines! Yes, readers BMW has received that many…eat your heart out Mercedes!

Anyway as expected, BMW with its top of the line BMW computer chip has once again emerged as the most successful brand at the International Engine of the Year Awards for 2007 – the world’s most important engine competition. And for the third time in a row, the Award’s panel of judges, which consists of 62 high ranking international automobile journalists from 30 countries, decided to give the principal prize – the highly-coveted “International Engine of the Year” – to the Bavarian automobile automaker.

Yes folks, the new BMW 3.0 liter Twin Turbo petrol engine that was fitted in South Africa to the BMW Series Coupe and Convertible and would also soon debut in the sedan took home the bacon. And that’s not the only BMW engine that won the award, the world’s first in-line 6 cylinder engine with Twin Turbo technology also from BMW came out topping two other categories. It won the “Best New Engine of the Year 2007” including the 2.5 – 3.0 liter capacity class.

Aside from the engine’s massive pulling power, the judges were particularly impressed with the high-efficiency and performance of the 225 kW power unit. The 9.5 liters per 100 kilometers in the BMW 335i Coupe is considered extremely moderate based on the EU norm for this performance class.

The Twin Turbo achieves such combination of power and efficiency through BMW’s High precision Injection system which is the first ever to be produced in high-volume production. It also allows accurate metering of the air-fuel mixture.

The V10 high-performance engine which is equipped in the BMW M5 and M6 has won two awards. The 373 kW power package with a capacity of 5 liters received the award for “Best Performance Engine of the Year” for the last two years in a row and also won in the engine class over 4.0 liters capacity. This remarkable engine has been able to win the “International Engine of the Year” award for 2005 and 2006 respectively.

The 2.0 – 2.5 liter Award was won by the 2.5 liter 6-cylinder petrol engine with VALVETRONIC which is found under the bonnet of the BMW 325i, BMW 525i, the Z4 Roadster 2.5si, and the X3 2.5si. Its fully variable valve control was utilized for the first time in 2001 and since then was employed in millions of vehicles. The 2.5 liter 6-cylinder petrol engine with VALVETRONIC produces 160 kW and founded BMW’s philosophy of efficient dynamics. According to jury member Rogelio Rivera-Nava from Mexico, “You can hear the 2.5-litre engine from a long way off due to its exquisite sound. The in-line 6-cylinder construction provides the basis for the technical purity of this most famous of all BMW engines. It is a pleasure to drive it.”

This is not yet the end of the prize series for BMW Group it has also won the 1.4 – 1.8 liter category but was tied with PSA Peugeot Citroën which happens to be BMW’s partner in developing the 1.6 liter turbo engine. This engine powers the MINI Cooper S giving it 128 kW. It will also be equipped in some models that these two automakers will develop together.

BMW for the last nine years has been able to win over 38 of the most coveted “International Engine of the Year Award” trophies making it as the most successful automaker in the history of the competition. This also signifies BMW’s ingenuity in the field of engine construction.
