what im getting from this is that the porche is a car that is easy to drive fast. by fast i mean by most peoples standards and for the more advanced drivers is just a fun car to drive fast for what it is. be fair its not a 911 turbo. what the z4m is is more like a car that you can drive fast if you know what your doing. uch as heel toe and stuff like that. im sure both cars are quick but while the boxter is more the peoples porche the z4m is just a fast car lol

thats not a very clever comment, considering a BMW M is not far from a Porsche model price… guess U dont owe any of both…

@Legopocolypse Doh!

Except that the Bimmer is $4000 MORE than the Porsche :3

@kuttarbachcha That’s why they are chick magnets, lol.

@sup3rcars I would have bought the M roadster in a heart beat, but chose a Boxster S. Best comment I’ve heard is, “The M roadster is an engine with a chassis, the Boxster S is a chassis with an engine.” Both are astounding, drive what you can afford.

@protossenslaver Well, I’ve owned an 05 Boxster S for over 4 years, broken water pump, Air/Oil separator. Just had a short shifter installed, gear box is sooo fine. Cayman is same as Boxster, both Porsche model 987. Tip sucks, go with PDK. PDK is much faster than manual.

@clu4u
No… The boxster is a terrible porsche. I used to work at a porsche dealership, so I know what I’m talking about; don’t buy one. They are well enough made (though the gear box is atrocious in the manual), but they lack any real passion (or power). The “least” porsche I could ever recommend would be the Cayman Sweet, sweet car and the “S” is nasty fast with the triptonic option.

it isn’t. you can’t compare BMW to porsche except when it’s about theese two. for example, does porsche has a small car? no, bmw has (the 1-series). does Porsche has any engine with less than 2,7 litre in size? no, bmw has (a 1,6). does porsche has mulitple diesel versions? no (except the Cayenne D and that’s one model) bmw has a diesel in pretty much all their models (1,3,5,6,7 series + X1, X3, X5 and X6)

@sup3rcars BMW is for poor guys who cannot afford Porsche, lol.
January 22nd, 2010 at 3:55 am
@SeerTrulth Its not just for skilled drivers, its also really easy to drive for a first car…..I dont like the limiter thing. I have the coupe if that makes a difference

The Z4M is not like a Boxster S. It is more powerful and more ready to be driven hard by skilled drivers. If you check Stig’s lap time, it smoked cars that you would not believe it would. Check the list. 1:26.0 — simply amazing, and right at the base of the ultracar speeds. ESS has $1000 software that push the 0-62 time down to 4.7 seconds and improve HP about 10% across the band. With the ESS software, Stig might have done a 1:24 in it. Compare THAT time to the list and say “$60,000″?

the engine in the Z4M is actually from the stock E46 M3. the CSL version has 355bhp. the E46 M3 has 338bhp. though, both cars have the same engine, 3246cc. don’t get me wrong though, top gear FTW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

anyone know the music at 1:30 ??
January 22nd, 2010 at 5:51 am
i would still rather have the new boxster s over the new z4 m, but the new z4 m is better looking

@FOLCH93
Regrettably, the majority of M division patrons seem to be chinese banker’s wives. Trophy cars (see M badging) for trophy wives. I doubt many of them have ever touched a proper gear lever. One suspects this might be a reason for it’s demise.
January 22nd, 2010 at 6:59 am
BMW knows what their doing hahaha to bad there not producing them anymore :
January 22nd, 2010 at 7:56 am
This Z4M is the best of the recent M-cars….. but still, the Boxter is still better, though……
January 22nd, 2010 at 8:18 am
“GUH!”
Hahaha.
January 22nd, 2010 at 8:23 am
This is a stupid comparison its like comparing a pagani against ford before you even see anything it is something to bet all your money on
January 22nd, 2010 at 8:47 am
so its a car for people that actually like to drive their cars. YAY! what a concept in todays world. you shift with a clutch pedal and lever, you get rid of all that electronics crap, and make a car that doesnt do everything for you. excellent
January 22nd, 2010 at 9:00 am
But you’d have to be seen driving a mazda 3. Ef that.
January 22nd, 2010 at 9:06 am
i would take the bmw, simply because the boxster is for the kind a man who can’t afford a proper porsche, a 911
January 22nd, 2010 at 9:29 am
obviusly its like compare gold with cheap iron
January 22nd, 2010 at 10:28 am
@shaikhdishgan1 what cars? the bmw/porsche/merc? depends more on the driver and the conditions. in the real world, a porsche will probably be a bit faster just because you will be slightly more inclined
to drive fast. but yes, a faster car will tend to get places faster
